Director of Community Services

Working primarily out of our Webster office, the Director is responsible for the overall management of several community-based programs for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault including legal and medical advocacy, community outreach and education.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees the operations and development of programs including Community Services, SAFEPLAN Legal Advocacy, Multi-Cultural Casework, Housing Stabilization, and Civilian Advocacy. 
  2. Provides supervision to coordinators, civilian advocates, senior legal advocates and program interns.
  3. Participates in the development and management of grants and state contracts to support these services, including preparation of on-going monitoring reports. 
  4. Works closely with other Directors, insuring consistency among services provided and teaming to meet program goals
  5. Coordinates community outreach and awareness activities, in collaboration with other Directors.
  6. Manages New Hope’s SANE and hospital-based medical advocacy program and participates in SANE on call.
  7. Represents agency at various local, regional, statewide, and coalition meetings.
  8. Assigns and supervises the maintenance of all program documentation including case files, client data and reports required by all funding sources.
  9. Participates in program on-call responsibilities, including providing back up for the other community services programs, and is available to staff for assistance in handling problem situations

Qualifications:

  1. B.A. or B.S. in Human Services or related field (Master’s Degree strongly preferred)
  2. Community outreach and education experience
  3. Experience working with sexual assault and domestic violence survivors
  4. Supervisory experience required
  5. Bilingual preferred   
  6. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Civilian Advocate/Caseworker

Assist the police department by providing emotional and support services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and stalking.  Coordinate and implement New Hope’s comprehensive Self-Sufficiency Program to Attleboro residents.  It is expected that the Civilian Advocate’s job performance will incorporate the practice and promotion of New Hope’s core values, which include respect, teamwork, empowerment, and professionalism.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Short-term victim support and crisis intervention
  • Follow-up with victim
  • Liaison between victim and police to facilitate communication
  • Facilitate court appearance by victim
  • Safety planning and risk assessment
  • Referrals to community services
  • Education for victims: dynamics of abuse, 209A rights and options, including a weekly group session
  • Perform other various tasks as requested by supervisor and/or Senior Management
  • Provide extensive case management services to help residents experience an increased quality of life resulting in increased family economic self sufficiency, decreased relationship violence, and increased utilization of community support services.
  • Collaborate with local and state agencies, providers, coalitions and networks, including Attleboro Housing Authority to meet the needs of residents.

Family Visitation Specialist; MJ Leadenham Family Visitation Center

10+hours per week, primary shifts include Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday during the day, with other shifts as needed.  Responsibilities to include: conducting individual supervision of visiting parent(s) with their children, ensuring safety of the child during supervised family visits and custodial exchanges.  Responsible for assisting and role modeling appropriate parenting skills and preparing individual observational reports and documented case notes for each visit. 

This position requires strong teamwork, knowledge of domestic violence issues, excellent communication and administrative skills.  Experience working with children and families is required.  Bilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Overnight Advocate; New Hope Emergency Shelter

New Hope is currently seeking a qualified individual for part-time (up to 24 hours/week) Overnight Advocate position in our Southeast and/or Central, MA Domestic Violence Shelter. Responsibilities include providing support to residents, keeping detailed case notes, covering open shifts when available, responding to the basic living needs of residents and communicating those needs to staff, and answering a 24-hour hotline. Relief Worker; New Hope Emergency Shelter

New Hope is currently seeking an eligible candidate to serve as a relief worker in our residential program. This opening is for a variety of hours including evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include answering our 24-hour hotline, responding to the basic needs of each resident, assisting in casework, filling any open shifts, and maintaining resident and shelter documentation in log notes. Eligible candidates should have some experience working with women and children in a residential setting. Co-facilitate New Hope's RESPECT groups in Worcester area office. Responsibilities include facilitating groups, maintaining collateral contacts and group reporting. State certified batterer's intervention training preferred or eligible. Experience facilitating groups preferred.
